Ideas & Advice

We are honored so many perennial gardeners have enjoyed reading and learning from Mike's hard cover book, Growing Perennial in Cold Climates. It was the first book ever of its kind for northern gardeners and came to be used as both a reference and teaching text. Unfortunately, it is now out-of-print and no longer available. We are working towards a revised and updated edition that will hopefully be available in the not too distant future. Our philosophy at Ambergate Gardens has always been to tell the entire story about every perennial - both good and bad. We have always tried to do this in both verbal and written communication and we think that is one of the real strengths of both the book and our Mail Order Catalog.

Of course, there are also many other books that are of value to perennial gardeners and we are happy to offer a handful of them in our Books, Tools & Labels section. We always love input from our customers and would love to hear of other books dealing with perennial topics that you have found to be helpful.

We routinely get questions about perennials for specific cultural niches. To that end, we are making available a number of plant information sheets that may be of value to you. These are intended as guides to aid you in plant selection and Ambergate Gardens does not sell all of these plants.
